Legacy 100 – where leaders are made

The Legacy 100 Program, which commenced almost two years ago on Project EnergyConnect (PEC), continues to be a uniquely Australian training initiative of many firsts.
Elecnor Australia has been contracted by Transgrid to deliver the construction of EnergyConnect PEC, a 700km of new power line from the SA border to the regional energy hub of Wagga Wagga.
In yet another first for the program, an all-legacy crew led by Legacy Alumni Angus Allen, completed the entire assembly and erection of a tower RTV 01 as part of the Wagga Wagga Substation connection.
The crew completed this mammoth task in just 14 days, reinforcing the massive strides these Legacy participants are making. The program helps participants achieve a Certificate II in Transmission Line Construction and provides the skills needed to work anywhere on the energy superhighway.
Angus graduated from the program in May 2024. He’s been working along the entire alignment and more recently, he’s been mentored by Line 5 Superintendent, Colin Dickie.
Congratulations to Colin for having the vision and confidence in the crew to make this happen. Well done to Angus for his outstanding leadership skills and bravo, to all involved.
Now it’s on to the next tower!
